We are recruiting for a Highways Engineer to support the team in Cumbria.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of civil designers and support the Civil Lead in planning and delivery of work, including reporting on progress in terms of time and costs.
- Undertake the civil design of all highways and external finishing.
- Lead the civil designers to develop the 3D model and produce 2D AutoCAD GA and detail drawings.
- Write specifications for Highways, earthworks and external finishing as the design progresses through Preliminary and Detailed Design.
- Attend and input to Design Review meetings as required.
- Fulfil the Designer role under the CDM (2015) Regulations.
- Have or contribute a Civil Engineering degree and ideally be a Chartered Engineer or local equivalent.
- Experience in all aspects of highways and external finishing design including concrete hardstanding.
- Experience using civil design software — ideally Civils 3D and 2D AutoCAD; familiar with BIM.
- Ideally some nuclear experience, or experience in a similar industrial field.
- Experience managing design resources, planning and delivering, chairing meetings, and managing stakeholders; or a desire to expand into this area.
- Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in design for UK highways / external works schemes; ideally familiar with relevant UK codes / Eurocodes, UK regulations (e.g., CDM 2015), DMRB and MCHW.
