About the Role
Our Regulatory Support Directorate (RSD) has been supporting the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator and the Office for Nuclear Regulation over several decades. We have a number of exciting opportunities to join this diverse team of highly experienced staff to provide a key role in supporting the UKs nuclear regulators (DNSR & ONR) with expert technical advice related to the safety of nuclear systems and activities. You will be conducting a range of technical assessment advice and inspection services in support of regulation of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, as well as the UK civil nuclear programme. This includes the provision of nuclear safety and technical assessment, audit and inspections, as well as civil nuclear projects under contract to the ONR. The role will require you to work with a wide range of technical disciplines to provide balanced and proportionate advice. Your responsibilities will also include development of DNSR policy and interactions with other regulatory bodies, which offer another area of support.

This role is open to candidates with a range of experience levels, from early career to seasoned experts (entry, intermediate, associate, career, senior, specialist). The scope and responsibilities of the roles will be aligned based on the qualifications, experience and strengths of each candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Delivers technical analysis, regulatory reviews, assessment and inspection support, completing assigned tasks to time, cost and quality.
- Represents RSD, supporting DNSR on site (at DNSR or Authorisee meetings or inspections).
- Point of contact with DNSR senior technical staff.
- Subject matter expert in a particular field.
- Produces fit-for-purpose deliverables such as technical reports, conclusions, recommendations and advice to customers.
- Pro-actively interacts and collaborates with project team, supplier, other organizations and customer contacts as appropriate.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of own allocated tasks.
- Fulfils role in keeping with business requirements for health, safety, environment, security and quality.
- Responsible for ensuring delivered work is of required standard.
