About the Opportunity
The Structural Analysis and Assessment Team is looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic Structural Integrity team leader to effectively line manage 6-8 structural Integrity experts. Our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector and your role will be to develop and grow these services in support of key client’s requirements across the New Build, Generation and Defence industries. You will also be required to continue to develop and deliver a strategy for expanding the team’s client base beyond its traditional customers and geographies. As part of the team, you will be delivering important solutions to real problems, meeting the UK and international energy demands and carbon emissions targets.
The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background, with knowledge of structural design and analysis techniques. The role includes technical oversight and delivery, in addition to line management and winning work. Therefore, the position will offer the opportunity to develop your technical skills further, in addition to a potential path into more senior leadership roles.
You and your team will be part of our wider Structural Analysis and Assessment Team. The team comprises a broad range of Engineering and Scientific experts spanning mathematics, physics, structural and mechanical engineering, software development, finite-element stress analysis, and structural integrity analysis and assessment. We provide these services to a range of customers, mainly but not exclusively in the nuclear industry, to ensure the economic and safe operation of capital-intensive plant, from both government and private industry. We also actively participate in a number of national and international projects and work closely with other parts of Amentum to provide integrated solutions to client requirements.
The team excels at hybrid working, with some days at home and others in our offices in Warrington, Knutsford and Manchester.
Key responsibilities
Line manage, coach, and support a team of 6-8 engineers
Conduct regular team meetings to review delivery, welfare, and performance
Complete annual appraisals and support personal development planning
Recognise team achievements and recommend promotions where appropriate
Foster a culture of trust, inclusion, and high performance
Lead by example, demonstrating commitment and behaviours in keeping with Amentum’s values
Project & Technical Delivery
Lead and contribute to complex client projects
Plan and manage team workload, resolving resource conflicts
Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance
Business Development
Build relationships with existing and new clients
Identify growth opportunities in emerging reactor programmes
Lead or support the development of bids and proposals
Contribute to long-term planning and positioning in the developing structural integrity market
Here’s What You’ll Need
Degree qualification (or equivalent training and experience) in appropriate mathematical, physical science or engineering discipline.
Pro-active and effective communication skills
Able to manage competing priorities, through strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Motivated and committed to strong technical delivery
