About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland\'s first Nuclear Power station.
The Piping Technical Lead (Balance of Nuclear Island) role is to deliver the engineering required for installation of the HPC MEH piping scope on site through leadership of a team of engineers from delivery to site of piping/equipment through to handover to commissioning. To provide integration of the site scope within the wider E2E Piping Engineering team.
The Balance of Nuclear Island Technical Lead reports to the BNI & BOP Piping Installation Contract Engineering Lead and to the Piping Construction Engineering Lead, who is a part of a wider team of Leaders reporting to the BNI & BOP Piping Engineering Manager delivering the E2E life cycle of the piping scope. Delivery of the upstream engineering sequence is outside the scope of the Engineering Construction Lead’s role, however they should ensure integration with the other areas of the team and other disciplines.
Role responsibilities:
- Managing the Contract Engineering Lead activities for HK8010 installation contract related to BNI piping (construction activities), in particular:
- Writing of the technical specifications for erection activities
- Updating of LDRC (List of Documents Required from the Contractor) and Surveillance Plan for BNI scope
- Answering to Technical Queries
- Resolving the construction Open Points
- Coordinating of the answer to Exemption Requests
- Coordination and reviewing deliverables from the Erection Contractors to support readiness of site erection activities.
- Reviewing installation specifications from the Responsible Designer (RD).
- Assistance to HK8010 Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) to update the BNI discipline LAD (List of Applicable Documents) and Works Information.
- Supporting to HK8010 Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) to manage Early Warnings.
- To handle specific technical topics and support to project managers to prepare BFPI/CMB/PCR paper, etc.
- Supporting the construction Project Managers in the establishment of Key Performance indicators with the objective of reporting site progresses for construction activities.
- Proactive reactivity and technical experience to enable site construction activities to be executed without blocker to delivery, by providing technical support/expertise to close all open points / technical queries raised by the construction contractor.
- Coordinate interface with Front Office teams in the answers provided for Field Change Requests / Non-Conformances from site.
- Ensure integration of the needs for activities post-construction (completion team) into the construction sequence (for instance: Hydro pressure test loop definition, Commissioning Test Pack review and acceptance...).
- Coordinate all the engineering activities to support construction sequence, and including the identification and implementation of improvements to processes and ways of working (e.g., redlining process on site).
- Degree in related engineering field;
- Chartered Engineer with relevant engineering institute;
- Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations;
- Working knowledge of French language an advantage;
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- A good knowledge of Balance of Nuclear Island systems in a previous successful experience in EPR project is important.
