This role can be based in Harwell, Rotherham, Cumbria or Birchwood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Noise & Vibration Measurements: Undertake site‐based noise and vibration measurements for environmental noise monitoring, construction, transport, and building acoustics.
- Acoustic Reports & Tools: Develop and review desk‐based acoustic reports using software such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, and Odeon. Assist in producing high‐quality documents detailing acoustic assessments suitable for clients and regulators.
- Digital Portfolio Development: Contribute to building a digital portfolio for acoustics, including the creation of both online and in‐person materials to communicate project goals and findings.
- Best Available Techniques: Develop acoustics‐focused best available techniques that integrate with wider environmental assessments, permitting processes, and Development Consent Orders (DCOs).
- Project Delivery: Manage and deliver various permitting and planning applications, as well as permit variations. Conduct site visits, install monitoring equipment, and liaise with client project managers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Laboratory & Noise Room Facility: Support the development of Amentum's acoustics laboratory and noise room facility, helping to enhance our in‐house capabilities.
Here's What You'll Need:

- Software Proficiency: Hands‐on experience with CadnaA, SoundPLAN, and Odeon for modelling and assessment.
- Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with the planning application process is advantageous. Interest in computational modelling (Python coding), health system effects of noise in marine ecosystems, and/or sound recording and signal processing is a plus.
- Communication & Problem‐Solving: Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to tackle technical challenges in a collaborative environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel on business as required, including potential visits to overseas sites.
