Conducts periodic maintenance operations, reconstitution, storage and deployment of cryogenic assets in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and applicable USAF requirements. Follows procedures to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all company standard operating procedures, work instructions, USAF Technical Orders, industrial safety and environmental policies.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, reconstitution, and storage of cryogenic assets (like LOX and LIN tanks) in accordance with USAF Technical Orders.
  • Inspect/evaluate cryogenic assets and installed components.
  • Identify necessary replacement parts and part numbers.
  • Identify malfunctions and perform repairs on cryotainers, transfer tubes, and valves to ensure equipment remains mission‑ready.
  • Cleans/inspects and repairs cryogenic assets and components.
  • Troubleshoot cryogenic asset malfunctions and take necessary maintenance actions.
  • Participate in equipment maintenance, shop safety, and other related training.
  • Ensure calibration of cryogenic gauges and hydrostatic testing of liquid samplers.
  • Ensure corrosion control is performed as required, including sanding defected areas, cleaning and priming surfaces, painting and applying preservation materials.
  • Prepare cryogenic assets for deployment according to established procedures.
  • Prepare and document time sheets, work orders and maintenance records.
  • Clean inside and outside work areas.
  • Operate material handling equipment when required.
  • Inventory hazardous material (HAZMAT) within the assigned work center and coordinate with the appropriate office for proper disposal when required.

Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placement and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in the shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and taste or smell. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe. The employee will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for the task being performed. The employee must be physically capable of performing all required duties, including lifting, pushing, and pulling a minimum of 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory completion of formal training for mechanical maintenance of cryogenics equipment.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in the field of cryogenics, ground support equipment maintenance, or equivalent.
  • Level 3 understanding of written and spoken English and ability to comprehend all required publications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles related to this position and material handling equipment (pallet jacks, 4K/10K forklifts).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Contract requirements in accordance with Appendix J.
  • Complete Cryotainer Maintenance Course (J3AZR2F051 05AA) and awarded SEI 036.
  • Ensure qualified personnel (AFSC 2F0X1), US Civil Service, US contract employees, host national military and/or civilian, or sister service equivalents are permitted to perform cryogenic operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documenting maintenance records and work orders.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling at least 50 lbs and operating material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in DPAS (for accountability) and Maximo (for maintenance/work orders).
  • Must be authorized to work in host country.
