It requires close, senior-level interfacing across the Portfolio Project Teams and the Client Handover organisation reporting into the Portfolio Head of Quality. The end user client covers a site of approximately 750 acres. Today the site undertakes advanced research, design and manufacturing. We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Handover Lead to take ownership and coordination of project handovers across a large, regulated infrastructure portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring compliant, high-quality handover aligned to client standards and nuclear regulatory requirements.

The Handover Lead will be responsible for the management and delivery of project handovers across the clients Portfolio. The role of the handover function is to ensure that the ‘golden thread’ of information is maintained throughout the project lifecycle to meet the end user / facility’s requirements. It encompasses the linear project lifecycle from end to end. Handover will follow a very specific model to ensure adherence with the Office for Nuclear Regulation license conditions.

Initial Scope:

  • Work with the Client Portfolio Operations Director and Heads of Functions to establish a handover strategy for the portfolio that delivers a consistent approach to handover across all projects – ‘The Amentum Way’.
  • Apply the ISO 9001 seven management principles to establishing the portfolio handover function to achieve success.
  • Manage high level client relationships with the client Handover Team.
  • Reporting to the Portfolio Head of Quality to align quality and handover deliverables and develop KPIs to track these.
  • Introduce procedures, work instructions and guidance documents that simplify and assure the delivery of handover to meet regulatory licence conditions – ONR LC6, DNSR AC6.
  • Develop / identify tools to streamline collation of handover data to be supported by the information management and document control teams.
  • Produce and deliver handover guidance for suppliers and sub-contractors which clearly defines requirements and expectations in terms of handover deliverables which comply with client requirements.
  • Develop stakeholder management plans for handover, document control and information management.

Functional Requirements:

  • Troubleshoot problems with ongoing projects to enable handover and project closure.
  • Continual monitoring of portfolio handover performance against KPIs, identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the programme management team to develop fragnets for handover activities to be included and accurately progressed within project delivery programmes dependent on complexity.
  • Manage stakeholders across all portfolio functions to maintain a clear understanding of the clients handover process and Amentum’s approach to delivering handover.
  • Oversee monthly stakeholder workshops to achieve sign off on key handover documents in preparation for Handover Readiness Reviews and avoid bottlenecks on completion of work packages.
  • Support Handover Managers / Coordinators where required.
  • Oversee collaboration with project led Design, Construction, Commissioning & the Client organisation to identify discreet handover packs to enable handover to be delivered concurrently throughout the project life cycle.
  • Monitor the delivery of handover across all projects and work alongside the client as delivery partner to manage expectations.
  • Monitor risks and liaise with risk management teams where appropriate.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Professional membership of a relevant chartered body i.e. Chartered Quality Institute, Chartered Management Institute, etc.
  • Level 7 Management Qualification.
  • Experienced in project delivery in highly regulated environments in line with the requirements of relevant regulators both nuclear and non-nuclear.
  • Understanding of the key principles of construction projects and experience of working in a construction environment.
  • Excellent time management, planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Qualification (ideal but not essential).
  • You must be willing and able to obtain a Security Clearance level, which includes being a sole UK National and have been in the UK for the preceding 5 years.
