Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plater to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, marking out, cutting, and assembling metal plate components to precise specifications. This role is vital in the production of high-quality fabricated structures and components. This role is Temporary - Weekly paid - Fully on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Mark out, cut, and shape heavy steel plate using tools such as oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.
- Assemble and tack-weld components in preparation for final welding.
- Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely.
- Work closely with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production targets.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plater in a heavy engineering or fabrication environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding or equivalent.
- CCNSG Safety Passport or Equivalent.
