The candidate will be responsible to lead and participate in the development of the Electrical systems design for various projects across a range of industries, including nuclear, defence, process, pharmaceuticals etc. The role will involve the production and checking of engineering deliverables to support design development across the full design lifecycle, including concept, basic, and detail design phases, and to provide support to procurement activities, construction, and testing and commissioning. Furthermore, participation in development of bid and tender information including engineering workhour and merchant account estimates, programs and schedules is required. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to all aspects of electrical engineering. The role requires knowledge and experience in project delivery with experience of optioneering, front‑end design and detail design, procurement, and supporting construction, testing and commissioning. Ability to estimate hours for scope changes or additional works along with outlining supporting schedule for the discipline. This role requires interface with Integrated Design Team, facility team (including systems engineering), other project functions and must work closely throughout project phases.
Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of Wiring Regulations (BS7671) as applied to industrial installations
- Working knowledge of Machinery Safety, UKCA Marking
- Good working knowledge of switchgear standards BS EN 62271 (parts applicable to voltages from 1kV to 52kV), BS EN 60947
- Knowledge of BS EN 60909 for the production of fault level studies. Also experience in the production of load flow and motor starting studies. Use of SKM Powertools or ETAP software.
- Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking
- Design and specification of lightning protection systems including preparation of risk assessments per BS EN IEC 62305
- Design and specification of earthing systems according to applicable standards
- Determination of touch and step potentials during fault and lightning strike conditions
- Knowledge and experience of determination and specification of suitable surge protection equipment in accordance with applicable standards and wiring regulations
- Understanding and application of the required deliverables and design process and output for all electrical engineering information including installation details
- Experience of delivery within and in accordance with formal Business Management systems
- Estimate & schedule production and progress reporting
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential.
