The framework is focused on safely accelerating decommissioning, remediation and high‑hazard risk reduction across one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world. Our nuclear team supports the front‑end design, engineering, technical leadership and delivery expertise required across the DNWP portfolio. We are looking for individuals with high‑value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors who can work collaboratively, embrace new challenges and contribute to the mission of safely and efficiently delivering Sellafield’s decommissioning and nuclear waste objectives.

About the Opportunity

As a Planner of Works (PoW) you will be responsible for the integration, maintenance and assurance of the construction programme in support of safe, compliant and efficient delivery of works on the Sellafield Site. The role ensures that construction activities are logically sequenced, risk informed, resource aligned, and compliant with Sellafield gated processes and site constraints. You will report functionally into Project Management, work in close collaboration with Construction and Delivery teams and interface directly with Sellafield Ltd planning and assurance representatives as required. The employee will be expected to contribute to the delivery of social value in line with the DNWP framework, supporting positive outcomes for local communities. Voluntary engagement is supported, with up to 16 hours per full‑time equivalent allocated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the construction programme in accordance with the approved scope, sequencing strategy and Sellafield gated process.
  • Ensure programmes reflect constructability, access constraints, permits, safety case dependencies, and site logistics.
  • Maintain the baseline programme, incorporating approved change where authorised.
  • Integrate subcontractor and package level schedules into a coherent master programme.
  • Support the Project / Delivery Manager in the production and maintenance of the Plan of Work.
  • Maintain the master programme into near term plans, including Plan of the Week (PoTW).
  • Validate that planned activities are achievable, fully scoped, and appropriately resourced.
  • Identify and communicate programme risks, clashes, and constraints impacting planned works.
  • Highlight critical path activities and key milestones to the project team.
  • Collect progress data from site teams, Package Managers, and subcontractors.
  • Produce look ahead schedules to support safe execution of works.
  • Support assessment of change events and their impact on the programme.
  • Assist in the development of mitigation and recovery plans where delays or constraints arise.
  • Work with the Project Manager to test alternative sequences or delivery strategies.
  • Support internal and client audits by providing programme evidence.
  • Attend planning, progress, and coordination meetings as required.

  • HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in discipline or construction.
  • Significant experience within a construction role, working in a highly regulated and quality assured industry.
  • Incorporated Engineer Status or Equivalent Professional Membership.
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying and communicating programme risks, clashes, and constraints impacting planned works.
  • Previous experience in production and maintenance of the Plan of Work and Plan of the Week.
  • Demonstrable experience in assisting the development of mitigation and recovery plans where delays or constraints arise.
