About the Opportunity: Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client-critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are supporting Hinkley Point C (a new build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), developing SMR (Small Modular Reactor) technologies, and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station. Working in both client-facing and internal roles, we deliver major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. Our focus is on delivering safe, high-quality, and timely solutions through innovative thinking and collaboration.
The Hinkley Point C Equipment Programme is responsible for delivering the mechanical, electrical, and process equipment that will form the power station. Contracts vary from £250k to £150m and involve partnerships with NNB's global supply chain. Design inputs are completed by the EDF Responsible Designer, with detailed design by the equipment supplier.
We are currently recruiting an Equipment Engineer to provide high-quality mechanical engineering support to the HPC Project, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and project standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Perform technical review and acceptance of design documentation provided by the Responsible Designer and suppliers.
- Assist the Project Manager in completing tasks supporting the design subprocesses.
- Address unresolved technical issues to reach adequate conclusions.
- Challenge design decisions to ensure alignment with project strategy.
- Maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Design Authority in communications with Regulators regarding design matters.
- Coordinate support from external organizations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status preferred.
- Experience in the Nuclear Industry preferred.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Industry design processes and activities.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Understanding of quality standards and practices.
- Knowledge of budget and schedule management.
- Commercial awareness within projects.
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities.
