Launch Your Career with Our 2026 Graduate Programme! Are you brimming with ambition and ready to make your mark in the professional world? Look no further! Our UK Graduate Programme is designed to catapult you into a thriving career, offering unparalleled opportunities for growth, learning, and success. Join Amentum in September 2026 and help us create a secure and vibrant future.

Are you ready to apply your engineering or science skills to some of the most complex safety challenges in the nuclear industry and play a vital role in protecting people, the environment, and national infrastructure? As a Graduate Human Factors Consultant, you’ll support high-profile projects across the entire nuclear lifecycle – from new build and operations to decommissioning, as well as critical programmes in other high hazard industries. You’ll help assess risks, develop safety justifications, and ensure compliance with the UK’s rigorous regulatory standards.

In this role you will be working with designers, safety specialists, operators and maintainers. You will develop your skills in many different Human Factor techniques including Human Reliability, Human Error, Task Analysis, Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and Safety Culture. Your work will directly influence the safety of critical nuclear operations. From concept design to decommissioning, you’ll contribute to decisions that matter.

We’ll support you through a structured development programme, technical mentorship, and a clear path to professional chartership with CIEHF. You’ll join a collaborative environment that values curiosity, integrity, and bold thinking. Our team is friendly and supportive and located across the UK and Poland. We welcome applicants who would like the opportunity to make a real impact in a vital and growing industry.

Why Join Us?

  • Work with a diverse team of experts from across the UK and beyond to gain insights into our markets and clients.
  • Comprehensive Training: Benefit from a structured development programme that covers everything from discipline‑specific skills and professional registration to personal development.
  • Mentorship: Receive guidance from seasoned professionals who are dedicated to helping you achieve your career goals.
  • Career Progression: When you reach the end of the programme, it’s just the beginning! You’ll be supported to continue to develop your experience and capabilities to help progress your career and achieve professional registration.
  • Supportive Community: Our hub‑based model is focused in key locations, ensuring that you’ll be part of a supportive early careers community with plenty of networking and experiential learning opportunities.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have completed an undergraduate or degree level qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, engineering or a related scientific discipline) by summer 2026.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage with scientific and non‑scientific personnel clearly and confidently.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to critically evaluate data and draw conclusions.
  • Team Collaborator: Ability to work effectively within a team but also independently.
  • Organisation & Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative & Curiosity: Eager to take ownership, ask questions, and seek out opportunities to grow.
  • Customer Focus: This is a consultancy role so experience of working with customers is also beneficial – not necessarily in a scientific role; other roles such as retail or hospitality would be suitable too.
  • A strong interest to work in the nuclear industry.

You must be:

  • A flexible self‑starter, who is keen to drive their career forward.
  • Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things.
  • Have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Our Graduate Programme assumes that participants are commencing their first professional role post‑graduation. To qualify for our Graduate Programme, you must therefore have:

  • Completed your first degree no earlier than the summer of 2024.
  • Not worked in a similar professional role since graduation.
  • Achieved a minimum 2:2 in your first degree.

Selection Process:

  • Apply Online.
  • Successful candidates will be invited to complete an online assessment.
  • Those who are selected will be invited to a final face‑to‑face interview with our operations teams.
  • Selected candidates will be offered an opportunity to join Amentum Graduate Programme in September 2026.

We will close the application window for this role on 31st January 2026, however we reserve the right to close the role sooner should we receive the required number of applications.

What else we provide:

  • A flexible work‑style, embracing a hybrid working pattern and supporting those who need to balance work/life commitments a bit differently than others.
  • Free single medical cover and digital GP service.
  • Reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships.

We want you to bring your whole, authentic self to work. As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy. We welcome applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working and from those who may not meet all the listed requirements for a role.
