Responsibilities
- Maintain technical quality and excellence of your work and of those you lead to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality.
- Plan, deliver and monitor the financial performance of projects including those involving junior staff.
- Communicate with clients and other design team members to provide technical input and justification.
- Provide technical and professional guidance, support and development for junior designers.
- Develop and deliver design documents and solutions.
- Chair and facilitate technical and non‑technical meetings, including progress meetings and design reviews.
- Work independently and autonomously during the delivery of complex engineering activities.
- Be fully conversant with business and quality management systems and actively encourage compliance within the team.
- Co‑ordinate and supervise surveys (condition, measurement, etc.) and assessments.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil/Structural engineering or an equivalent demonstrable underpinning knowledge and understanding.
- Experience in a civil and structural design role with direct influence over design practices and outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead projects of varying size and complexity, managing technical aspects as well as quality, budget, programme and resources.
- Expertise in the latest version of AutoCAD, Revit and associated software, with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Knowledge and understanding of British Standards and CDM regulations.
- Experience in detailing of reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, liaising directly with clients and cross‑discipline design team members.
- Awareness of applicable codes and safety legislation and how they should be applied.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and report‑writing skills.
