About the Opportunity
The IT Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for gathering, analysing, and documenting requirements for IT projects that further the goals of the wider business. The role involves engagement with both business and technical stakeholders, effectively bridging the gap between the two to ensure that technical solutions are comprehensive, accurately constructed, and reflect the original needs of the business.
Core Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Engage with business stakeholders using working sessions, interviews, and direct inquiry to build out business requirements.
- Produce detailed documentation, including Business Requirement Documents, Functional Requirement Documents, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Accurately distinguish between functional, non-functional, and technical requirements.
- Analyse business processes and workflows using common methodologies such as BPMN and UML.
- Conduct gap analyses to identify differences between current and future processes.
- Solution Design and Documentation
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Work closely with developers, architects, and QA to ensure the feasibility of solutions.
- Work closely with UX designer to produce wireframes, mock ups, and process diagrams to facilitate clear design.
- Ensure that any proposed solutions satisfy business objectives while also adhering to IT standards.
- Project Delivery Support
- Work with Project Managers to define scope, timelines, and resourcing.
- Liaise between IT and the business throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide support in Agile ceremonies.
- Assist QA in developing target test strategies, test cases and organising UAT.
- Implementation
- Assist with the development of training materials and the delivery of workshops.
- Produce system and process documentation.
- Support post-implementation requirements gathering and change activities.
Technical Knowledge & Tools
- Business Analysis Techniques: Use cases, process/workflow mapping, gap analysis, MoSCoW prioritisation, SWOT.
- Methodologies: Agile, including Scrum. Hybrid delivery.
- Software: MS Visio and similar diagramming tools, Azure DevOps.
- Data/Systems: Basic understanding of databases, including MS SQL Server. Familiarity with APIs, web services, and integration concepts such as REST and SOAP. Enterprise system experience, such as ERP, HRIS, CRM, finance systems, and how they interact.
- Security: Awareness of cybersecurity principles and data protection.

Qualifications
