About the opportunity: Amentum are looking to recruit a Senior Fire Engineer to support activities for design and construction projects in the Defence Sector, through all RIBA Stages from inception to completion. Our current projects relate mostly to defence and can apply to individual buildings as well as sitewide strategies which may include consideration of high hazard areas. With an anticipated growth in workload over the coming year, there would be potential for the right candidate to build a team of dedicated fire engineers focused on Amentum projects and processes. This is a great opportunity and the ideal candidate should have experience in industrial and/or highly regulated projects, preferably in defence related work, be self-motivated and a self-starter. Your base office could be Glasgow, Reading or Bristol, with hybrid working from home included.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Advising on Building Regulation compliance encompassing layout planning
  • Contribute to tender information for new work
  • Fire engineering opinions on construction details
  • Prepare fire strategies for sitewide and building specific cases and contribute in design workshops where required
  • Liaison with Client Fire Authority including MoD, DIO and other related site authorities
  • Ensuring compliance with any additional, relevant governance
  • Support the delivery of project work within time and budget limitations

Here is what you need:

  • Relevant engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering or an alternative post-graduate qualification in fire engineering
  • Ideally a Chartered fire engineer or the necessary qualifications to apply for chartership, we can support you on this
  • Experience supporting project delivery on time and within budget
  • A record of successful delivery of fire safety projects preferably in the defence and/or in a highly regulated sector
  • Clear understanding of the necessary fire standards including but not limited to Defence Infrastructure Fire Standards, NFPA 130, BS9999 and EN45545
  • CFD and other fire modelling would be beneficial if used
  • You must be a UK National and be willing and able to obtain Security Clearance for the UK. Some limitations may apply to Dual Nationals.
