The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site. The plant will play a vital role in Sellafield’s 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the site’s original waste plants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes from the various donor plants, carried out in line with the Employer’s needs and to the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).
Roles & Responsibilities:
- To produce a suite of compliant, professionally produced, System Overview Documents (Volume B) within defined time frames.
- Interrogate engineering/design and vendor information to produce the System Overview Documents (Volume B).
- Liaise with Engineering to collate Vendor Operation and Maintenance Manuals (Volume D).
- Liaise with Commissioning Team Leaders and engineers to produce Commissioning System Completion reports in line with project requirements for LTR pack completion, ready for handover to client.
- Provide weekly progress updates to the Senior Technical Author.
- Attend client progress meetings.
- Report directly to the Senior Technical Author.
- Ensuring Safety is the highest priority on the project, with a continued strive towards Zero Harm.
- Ensuring quality standards and consistency are applied throughout the range of documentation being produced.
- Supporting the development of a collaborative project culture in line with Collaborative Working Plan.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Nuclear background.
- Minimum HNC in an appropriate discipline.
- Previous Technical Author experience.
- IOSH Working/Managing Safely or equivalent.
- Relevant trade card or equivalent.
- The ability to obtain BPSS is essential for this role.
This role is initially on a fixed term contract until March 2027 but with scope to become permanent.
