About The Opportunity

The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site. The plant will play a vital role in Sellafield’s 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the site’s original waste plants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by Sellafield Ltd’s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To carry out vendor testing witnessing duties at works test.
  • Preparation of plant commissioning test specifications.
  • Early inspection of site installation to facilitate system handovers.
  • Execution of testing activities throughout IPC commissioning phase.
  • Identification of faults and ability to propose and implement solutions.
  • Organisation of Commissioning Technicians and support resources.
  • Initiation and implementation of FOBs.
  • Validation of Working Level Instructions.
  • Application and removal of Temporary Commissioning Aids.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • SCADA systems, in particular Wonderware ‘In Touch’.
  • PLC programming of control systems, in particular Rockwell ControlLogix software.
  • Control System Network Architecture.
  • Involvement throughout whole software/systems lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation, configuration, and documentation (working throughout to full QA procedures).
  • Nuclear CE&I systems commissioning.
  • Minimum - HNC/HND in Engineering related subject or equivalent.
  • Experience in nuclear commissioning.
  • Project management knowledge, preferably APM member.
  • Calculation production using Excel.
  • IOSH Working or Managing Safely.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • ECS Supervisory card.
  • The ability to obtain BPSS is essential for this role.
