The Opportunity Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This 20‑year arrangement delivers ~£7bn of major projects. We are recruiting high‑value expertise from regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP delivers major projects, site‑wide improvements and supporting services.

The Project The Sellafield Product & Residue Store (SPRS) Retreatment Plant (SRP) Project will provide a facility that receives Special Nuclear Material (SNM) from existing stores across the Sellafield site and processes it into a form suitable for safe and secure storage. To support the delivery of the SRP Project, we are seeking an EC&I Engineer to join the design team.

Responsibilities of this position include assisting in the delivery of mechanical handling systems – specifically package transfer systems and storage outside of Glovebox Lines – as well as building services systems including cranes, FLTs and lifts.

The Role As an EC&I Engineer, some of your responsibilities could include:

  • Provide design support to procurement, manufacture and installation teams.
  • Manage EC&I design configuration baseline in response to developing project requirements and design information from the supply chain.
  • Check and review EC&I design deliverables to programme deadlines and to appropriate relevant standards, codes and regulations.
  • Work with the supply chain, support design aspects of contracts to ensure suppliers meet client Engineering Standards, respond to Technical Queries, and support production of test specification and attendance at Works Acceptance Testing at supplier facilities.
  • Integrate and coordinate the above EC&I systems into the wider SRP Plant via Building Interface Modelling (BIM), working with other engineering and non‑technical disciplines.
  • Support the project Commissioning team activities.
  • Ensure that throughout remaining phases of the project lifecycle the EC&I design intent is aligned to safety case requirements (nuclear and conventional) and that all functional requirements are met, ensuring Validation and Verification is adequately managed.

As an EC&I Engineer you will already:

  • Have a BEng/MEng degree or HND/HNC in a relevant field, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Be professionally registered or be working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IET, InstMC).
  • Have demonstrable experience in a similar role within a highly regulated industry.
  • At interview be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Evidence of design competence of mechanical handling systems throughout the full project lifecycle. Independent capability to manage their area of responsibility. Ensuring Validation & Verification is completed throughout project delivery.
