Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a NGIS Warehouse Specialist to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
The Crane Rigger assists with inspections and configuring cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
Principal Accountabilities(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Move materials and mobile crane to various locations in a safe and appropriate manner
- Perform inspections and operator level maintenance, selection, and configuration of cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
- Interact closely with the customer for movement of materials
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Speak, read, and comprehend English
- Knowledge of selection and configuration of equipment required to move loads according to weight and size
- Ability to perform site surveys, task analysis, and operator level maintenance on assigned crane/rigging components
- Analytical skills to perform lift calculations
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a crane rigger
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to lift seventy-five (75) pounds, bend, stoop, and work around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
