The Client-Side Construction Manager represents the Owner and is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and assuring all construction activities performed by the EPC contractor and subcontractors. This role ensures that the project is executed in accordance with the Client’s requirements, nuclear safety expectations, Polish regulatory obligations, and international best practices.

Location: Pomerania, with some opportunities to work from the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Owner’s Oversight – Monitor EPC contractor performance and ensure adherence to contract obligations, technical specifications, and nuclear safety requirements.
  • Workforce Planning – Develop, manage, and implement a workforce plan based on programme demand and supply, consulting stakeholders and drafting oversight procedures.
  • Regulatory Interface – Coordinate with Polish nuclear regulators (PAA), environmental authorities, and local agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Quality Assurance Governance – Support implementation of the Client’s QA/QC oversight program; review inspection results, audits and non‑conformance reports; ensure corrective actions are effective.
  • Risk & Issue Management – Identify schedule, cost, and technical risks; escalate critical issues; lead mitigation planning on behalf of the Client.
  • Schedule & Progress Assurance – Validate contractor schedules, verify progress, challenge deviations, and ensure transparent and accurate reporting.
  • Contract Compliance – Monitor contractor adherence to EPC terms, change‑management processes and performance metrics.
  • Safety Culture Oversight – Ensure the contractor maintains a strong nuclear safety culture; intervene when unsafe conditions or behaviours are observed.
  • Reporting & Governance – Provide clear, evidence‑based reporting to the Client’s executive team on progress, risks and compliance status.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Nuclear construction knowledge and experience – Experience in nuclear construction, preferably including GW‑scale plants; familiarity with nuclear construction requirements, quality assurance, traceability, safety standards, nuclear island and conventional island processes.
  • Client‑side project leadership – Proven leadership in multicultural, multidisciplinary environments; experience representing the Client/Owner on major infrastructure or nuclear projects and overseeing EPC/EPCM contractors, subcontractors and supply chains.
  • Regulatory expertise – Understanding of nuclear licensing, permitting and construction regulations; experience working with nuclear regulators and participating in inspections, audits and licensing‑related activities.
  • Technical competence – Background in civil, mechanical or nuclear engineering; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of these disciplines.
  • Quality – Deep understanding of nuclear QA/QC requirements (e.g., NQA‑1, ISO standards); experience ensuring full traceability of materials and construction activities; familiarity with inspection and test plans (ITPs) and hold points.
  • Health and safety – Demonstrated commitment to the highest safety standards and nuclear safety culture; experience implementing HSE management systems and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.
  • Communication – Skilled at managing complex relationships with contractors, regulators and internal leadership.
  • Language – Fluent English proficiency.
