We are now recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join us permanently on one of a project’s sites located near Newbury and HQ in Warrington. We are seeking the following:
- A senior commercial manager(s)s with extensive experience (15y+) of working in the UK construction industry. We are looking specifically for people who have worked for Tier 1 & 2 construction companies who have recent and relevant experience of large-scale civil construction contracts that have been delivered using NEC3/4. We are particularly interested in SCM’s who have a strong background in:
- Large mechanical (to include HVAC), electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) contracts and contract administration.
Scope: As Senior Commercial Manager/Commercial Manager you will be responsible for managing and administering one or more sub-contracts with our supply chain for range of major design, construction, and decommissioning projects for a major nuclear programme. You will develop and implement an effective contract administration and procurement management programme which ensures compliance with requirements, assurance of commercial delivery, compliance with nuclear quality control protocols and manages procurement activities resources effectively.
You’ll also be responsible for the administration of, subcontracts, and procurement. You will be responsible for reporting cost and commercial performance of the work packages and supporting the Programme Senior Commercial Lead in meeting the project goals/objectives. You will be the key contact for liaising between internal and external customers/stakeholders to ensure appropriate dissemination of commercial information, guidance, continuous improvement, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Delivery of the work package commercial function in a security sensitive public sector environment
- Management of functional reports through a matrix structure
- Implement commercial systems and procedures to ensure compliance with the programme level commercial requirements.
- Lead contract development and management – including management of change with the client.
- Close liaison with other (client and internal) Project Commercial teams and the Project Commercial Director
- Develop and manage supply chain frameworks to ensure value-for-money and delivery excellence.
- Identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting project commercial risks
- Collating and analysing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with project commercial objectives.
Education/ Experience
- Ideally degree qualified in Commercial, quantity Surveying Business, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Well-developed and practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 ECC and good familiarity with associated NEC suite of contracts
- RICS Chartered Surveyor or relevant equivalent (or can demonstrate that this will be achieved with 12 months)
- Recent and relevant experience in a commercial delivery role
- Major project delivery– recent and relevant experience as a prime contractor rather than a client-side consultant
- Experience of working collaboratively in a project/programme/client environment
- Experience of working in a safety and quality driven environment
- Dispute avoidance and dispute management experience
- Experience of working in the nuclear industry
- Currently hold SC or be willing/prepared to go through the SC process.
- CEMAR experience preferable but not essential.
Additional Experience:
- Working in a Client facing/ Client management role.
- Managerial abilities and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to establish, implement and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety, and operational performance.
- Ability to work in an environment where VFM for the ‘public purse’ is paramount.
- Familiarity with Public Procurement Regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
