Within the defence sector, Amentum has an essential role in the UK’s continuous at‑sea deterrent. Due to continued growth we are currently seeking Civil Structural & Architectural Engineers to join our team. These positions support hybrid working and can be based across our office network within the UK.
Responsibilities
- Technical quality and excellence of your work and the work of those working under you to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality.
- Project planning, delivery and financial performance of your work and that of junior staff.
- Communication with clients and other design team members to provide technical input and justification.
- Technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior designers.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of design documents and solutions.
- Chair and facilitate technical and non-technical meetings including progress meetings and design reviews.
- Independent and autonomous work during the delivery of complex engineering activities.
- Be fully conversant with business and quality management systems and actively encourage compliance within team.
- Co‑ordinate & supervise surveys (condition, measurement etc) & assessments.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil/Structural engineering or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding.
- Experience in a civil and structural design role having direct influence over design practices and outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead projects of varying size and complexity, managing technical aspects as well as quality, budget, programme and resources.
- Expert in the use of the latest version of AutoCAD, Revit and associated software, with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Knowledge and understanding of British Standards and CDM regs.
- Experience in detailing of reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member liaising directly with clients and other cross discipline design team members.
- Aware of applicable codes and safety legislation and how they should be applied.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and report writing skills.
