About the Role

Amentum is seeking an experienced FEED Area Engineering Manager to support the Design Services Alliance (DSA) at Sellafield.

This role sits within the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of major nuclear programmes and is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in the development of technically robust, safe and deliverable engineering solutions from project conception through to Gate 2 / Single Preferred Solution.

Working across a portfolio of projects, you will provide engineering leadership from initial opportunity identification, through requirements capture, optioneering and engineering definition, ensuring projects are sufficiently mature to transition into detailed design and delivery.

You will act as the engineering focal point for your allocated programmes, bringing together engineering disciplines, safety, operations and stakeholders to develop solutions that are technically sound, deliverable and aligned with programme objectives.

This will be a hybrid position with Sellafield site attendance as required.

  • Work collaboratively with Sellafield Programme teams, Project Engineering Managers, Safety Case teams, Operations, Construction, Commissioning, Technical Authorities and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Facilitate engineering decision‑making and build consensus around preferred technical solutions.

Essential Experience

  • Significant engineering leadership experience within a highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering Front End Engineering Design (FEED), concept, feasibility, appraisal or optioneering phases of major capital projects.
  • Experience developing engineering requirements and translating them into deliverable engineering solutions.
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance and design assurance.
  • Experience managing engineering scope, cost, schedule and technical risk.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior technical and programme stakeholders.
  • Experience working within integrated engineering teams.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards).
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution.
