About the opportunity: Energy, Engineering and Technical Services is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a Technical Lead (PTLSS) (Pools, Tanks, Liners, Sumps, Steelworks) who will support the field design activities and particularly manage subjects related to the Pools, Tanks, Liners, Sumps and Steelworks. The PTLSS [Pools/Tanks/Liners/Sumps/Steelworks] Team works on technical topics related in the scope of works of the Responsible Designer for all buildings. Those topics relate to field events such as Open Point (OP), Design Change, Request For Information (RFI), Field Change Request (FCR) and Non-Conformance Report (NCR).
In this context the PTLS Technical Lead's key responsibilities will be:
- Be capable of authoring JDO PTLS deliverables (site requests / DER-DEN / UK-DC / OP)
- Understand hand or software calculations related to JDO PTLS activity (anchorages, welds, mechanical beam structures)
- Check JDO PTLS deliverables (site requests RFI, FCR, NCR / DER-DEN / UK-DC / OP)
- Be a reliable point of contact for the team on any technical question OR be able to know where to find the information or who to contact in case you do not know the answer
- Be a reliable point of contact for external stakeholders such as AZW teams, NNB PM and CDLs or Contractor’s engineering team.
- Lead technical meetings both internal and external
- Approve JDO PTLS deliverables (site requests RFI FCR NCR / DER-DEN / UK-DC / OP)
- Lead the team to follow EPR-E QA process in order to achieve expected quality
- Lead technical topics such as part of the design not fully delivered (ie. Lifting beam locking system)
- Have a good overview of the team’s workload and be able to delegate tasks when needed
- Explain/Detail site needs and coordinate activities with design offices in France that work on PTLS scope
- Ensure that methods, referential, tools, process and delegated authority from EPR-E back-office teams are complied with
Qualifications:
- Science, Engineering masters degree or equivalent
- General welding engineering knowledge (processes, NDT, welding defects and welding standards)
- Experienced in Civil works and Steel structures design and construction activities
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software: PDMS, TEKLA structures, NavisWorks
- Knowledge of EUROCODE, RCC-M code
