Amentum invites applications to join our Energy business as a Senior Fire Engineer. Position will be based at one of our Energy offices: Newcastle, Glasgow, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol or Knutsford, with flexible working patterns considered.

About the Opportunity

Join a department supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through business transformation and new small modular reactor developments. Work covers New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling with widespread demand across the nuclear sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop fire safety strategies to support compliance with Building Regulations and relevant fire safety legislation, including design solutions for means and escape, detection and alarm, structural fire protection, suppression and firefighting access.
  • Conduct conventional fire assessments / fire risk assessments to support compliance and ALARP demonstrations where non‑compliances exist.
  • Perform fire modelling using empirical hand calculations and software such as CFAST and Computational Fluid Dynamics to support performance-based fire safety engineered solutions.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • STEM degree qualified (desirable not essential).
  • Membership with a recognised institution (e.g., Institution of Fire Engineers – desirable not essential).
  • Fire safety engineering experience, ideally covering the key responsibilities listed above.
  • Experience applying relevant prescriptive codes (e.g., ADB, BS 9999).
  • Experience with fire modelling for performance-based solutions (desirable not essential).
