We are currently recruiting for an Equipment Qualification Engineer to join out team .
You will report to the Operations Manager and be part of the Materials and Equipment Qualification (EQ) team supporting the delivery of major new build nuclear projects, including Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C.
You will play a key role in ensuring the qualification of safety-related equipment in accordance with project requirements, supporting the production of robust engineering substantiation and contributing to the delivery of the nuclear safety case.,
- Authoring, reviewing and verifying Equipment Qualification documentation, including Equipment Qualification Strategies, Equipment Qualification Programmes and Qualification Summary Reports.
- Acting as the lead technical reviewer for Equipment Qualification documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards, including RCC-E where applicable.
- Providing technical leadership to ensure unresolved technical issues are appropriately managed and satisfactory technical conclusions are reached.
- Supporting the coordination of technical input from multidisciplinary engineering teams and external organisations to ensure successful project delivery.
- Providing technical input into the identification, assessment and management of project risks and opportunities.
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Responsible Designers, clients and equipment suppliers.
- Supporting engagement with the client on Equipment Qualification aspects of the nuclear safety case, providing technical justification and responding to client comments and queries.
- Reviewing supplier qualification evidence to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of Equipment Qualification processes, methodologies and best practice.
- Contributing to the delivery of projects by ensuring work is completed safely, to the required quality, within budget and in accordance with programme milestones.
- Supporting the preparation of technical proposals and bids where required.
Depending on experience, the successful candidate may also undertake technical leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior engineers and coordinating Equipment Qualification activities across multiple projects.
- Experience supporting Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C or other EPR-based nuclear projects.
- Knowledge of the EDF Equipment Qualification process and associated design governance.
- Training in, or practical experience applying, RCC-E requirements.
- Experience supporting the development of nuclear safety cases and engineering substantiation.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear regulatory expectations and relevant industry standards.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards professional registration with an appropriate engineering institution.

- Degree qualified (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering or another relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Experience delivering Equipment Qualification activities within the nuclear industry, ideally supporting new build nuclear projects.
- Experience authoring and reviewing Equipment Qualification documentation, including EQ Strategies, EQ Programmes and Qualification Summary Reports.
- A sound understanding of Equipment Qualification methodologies and their role in supporting nuclear safety cases.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and interfacing with Responsible Designers, equipment suppliers and clients.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritise activities within a fast-paced project environment.
