At Amentum, our mission is to engineer the future by solving complex challenges in science, security and sustainability. We are looking for a Team Leader to join our Waste Management Consultancy business in the civil nuclear waste management sector.
About The Opportunity
We need a technical team leader to grow the business, develop the team and deliver technical work across waste strategy, inventory and compliance for radioactive waste and nuclear materials. The role can be based at Harwell, Cumbria, Scrabster, Birchwood or other locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery in your specialist topic area.
- Assessment of waste and environment issues using recognised approaches such as BAT and BPM.
- Site‑end‑state development projects, waste planning and regulatory compliance.
- Stakeholder engagement and best‑practice guidance development.
- Provide strategic input to waste retrieval and decommissioning projects.
- Produce concise technical reports and presentations.
- Manage team safety, well‑being and career development.
- Manage frameworks, project portfolios and profitability targets.
- Develop client relationships, win new work and grow the business.
- Bid leadership and proposal preparation.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant mathematical, physical science or engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in a comparable consultancy or strategic waste‑management role, covering at least some of the technical topic areas.
- Experience of bid leadership and proposal preparation.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to balance multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to different stakeholders.
