The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for Amelio Group. This role ensures timely procurement at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards and supporting project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Sourcing
    • Identify and source suppliers for construction materials (e.g., concrete, steel, aggregates, pipes).
    • Obtain and evaluate quotations, tenders, and proposals.
    • Issue purchase orders in line with project requirements.
  • Supplier Management
    • Build and maintain relationships with approved suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Evaluate supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery).
    • Develop alternative suppliers to reduce risk and cost.
  • Cost Control & Negotiation
    • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
    • Ensure procurement aligns with project budgets and cost targets.
    • Track market trends for construction materials and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Project Coordination
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to understand material needs.
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays.
    • Resolve supply issues or delays proactively.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and contract requirements.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
    • Support audits and reporting requirements.
  • Inventory & Logistics
    • Monitor stock levels and coordinate deliveries.
    • Minimise waste and over-ordering.
    • Coordinate with logistics teams for transportation and site delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience (typically 25+ years) in procurement within construction or civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and industry standards.

Key Skills

  • Strong negotiation and commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, etc.).
