Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site Engineer with 2-3 years' experience in a site-based role to join our project delivery team. The successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering and construction projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role is ideal for a site engineer who has gained practical site experience and is looking to further develop their technical and project management skills within a dynamic construction or civil engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and supervision of site activities.
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Set out works and conduct site surveys using engineering equipment and software.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Monitor project progress and report on programme performance to senior management.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Support quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving engineering and construction issues on site.
  • Monitor and promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Review technical drawings and specifications and raise queries where necessary.
  • Coordinate material requirements and support efficient resource management.
  • Participate in site meetings and contribute to project planning and problem-solving activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • 2-3 years' experience in a site-based Engineer role within the construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering sectors.
  • Experience working on projects such as roads, utilities, drainage, earthworks, structures, public realm, or infrastructure developments.
  • Practical experience in site coordination, setting out, and quality control processes.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies.
  • Experience using setting-out equipment, including GPS, Total Station, and Auto Levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other engineering software is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Full UK/Irish driving licence (or ability to travel between project sites).
  • CSCS/CPCS/Safe Pass card or equivalent certification (where required).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working for a civil engineering contractor.
  • Knowledge of NEC and/or ICE contracts.
  • Temporary Works Awareness training.
  • Experience with surveying software and digital site record systems.
