Salary: Starting from £27,000 per year (£13.66/hour) based on 38 hours per week

About The Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for safeguarding and supporting children overnight in one of our residential homes. You will ensure a safe, calm, and nurturing environment, attend to children’s emotional and physical needs, and complete essential tasks to prepare the home for the following day.

This is a lone working role, ideal for someone with maturity, resilience, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight supervision, care, and emotional support
  • Be alert to signs of distress or safeguarding concerns and report appropriately
  • Support personal care and hygiene routines where required
  • Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during the shift
  • Clean and prepare the home for the following day
  • Communicate effectively with day staff and management handovers
  • Remain vigilant and responsive to any incidents or needs through the night

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable people is preferred
  • Confidence working independently through the night
  • Calm, reliable, and highly observant
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable (not essential due to staff transport)
