Salary: Starting from £27,000 per year (£13.66 per hour) based on 38 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Nights, 4 on / 4 off (set nights considered)

About The Role

Nights can be the hardest part of a young person’s day. You might be the person who helps them settle after a nightmare, reassures them when they feel unsafe, or simply sits calmly while they work through a difficult moment.

As a Night Support Worker, you will safeguard and support children overnight in one of our residential homes. This is a lone working role, so you will need to be confident working independently, staying alert and maintaining a calm, nurturing environment through the night.

The difference you’ll make

Working nights is not just being awake. It is being present when a young person needs stability, reassurance and safety. The smallest moments can feel like big wins, a young person returning to sleep, a calm conversation at 2am, a safe home ready for the morning team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight supervision, care and emotional support to children and young people
  • Respond to needs during the night, including when a young person is unwell, upset or unable to sleep
  • Remain alert to safeguarding concerns and follow reporting procedures
  • Support personal care and hygiene routines where required
  • Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during quieter periods
  • Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and preparing the home for the next day
  • Communicate clearly during handovers with day staff and management
  • Remain vigilant and responsive to incidents or needs throughout the night

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in residential childcare, a children’s home or a similar care setting is helpful, but not essential
  • Confidence working independently overnight (lone working)
  • Calm, reliable and highly observant, with a caring approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices, or willingness to learn
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable, but not essential

Benefits

  • Life insurance (death in service) – 4x basic annual salary
  • Health cash plan (Health Shield) (after probation/eligibility applies)
  • Training and development – induction and mandatory training, plus CPD, therapeutic support and further qualifications
  • Free holiday accommodation – company holiday home on south coast
  • Discounts – Blue Light Card + local partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – free, confidential 24/7 support helpline
  • Referral bonus scheme – financial incentives for successful referrals (criteria apply)
  • Company pension with award winning provider and enhanced employer contributions
  • Company sick pay scheme (after 6 months’ service)
  • Electric car scheme + Cycle to Work – salary sacrifice options
  • Recognition – Employee of the Month + long service awards
  • Discounted driving lessons with local instructor
