Amegreen Education is a group of independent SEND schools across West Berkshire. Our students require high levels of care, engagement and support, and we are committed to providing a positive and supportive environment for both students and staff. We offer staff wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance with working hours 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Each day includes briefings and debriefings, and staff are provided with a free cooked lunch. We also provide a dedicated weekly afternoon for CPD, planning and preparation when students are not on site. Salary is competitive and mirrors the National Teacher Pay Scale, accompanied by an enhanced company pension scheme.
Summary of role
The postholder will work under the direction of the Executive Headteacher to maintain a culture of excellence in learning and teaching, recognising pupils’ individual worth. The role supports the community in promoting positive attitudes to learning among pupils and staff, committing to a cluster of very vulnerable young pupils and their families who need tailored adaptations to access education. All postholders work with our SEND students across our educational settings.
Main responsibilities
The postholder will inspire, motivate and challenge students through high quality teaching, manage behaviour effectively and ensure a safe learning environment. The postholder will promote personal development and welfare, implement policies, adhere to teacher standards, and contribute to the whole Centre improvement plan through curriculum development and upholding the schools’ values and pedagogy.

Person Specification
The Head of Centre will be accountable for:
- Maintaining student attendance at or above the agreed target of 94%.
- Ensuring positive progress and outcomes for all students from their individual starting points.
- Delivering a high‑quality, ambitious and appropriately sequenced curriculum.
- Maintaining robust safeguarding practices and ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and successful engagement in learning.
- Ensuring high levels of parent, carer and student satisfaction.
- Leading, developing and retaining a high‑performing staff team.
- Delivering the Centre Development Plan and contributing to wider organisational priorities.
- Ensuring all policies, risk assessments and operational procedures are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed.
- Supporting the successful development and growth of the Centre, including the establishment and expansion of Post‑16 provision.
- Ensuring that all students leave the Centre with a minimum of five accredited qualifications appropriate to their needs, abilities and future aspirations.
