Your Role as a Team Leader (Children’s Services)
You’ll support the day-to-day running of the home, leading by example to create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can develop and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the care of children aged 12–17 in a safe, homely environment
- Contribute to meeting their physical, emotional, social, and educational needs
- Build positive relationships to support personal development
- Promote independence through daily living skills
- Supervise and support team members to develop their skills and confidence
- Lead by example, ensuring high standards of care
- Mentor less experienced staff and strengthen team capability
- Advocate for the needs and best interests of young people
- Support consistent, high-quality care across the service
- Work flexibly across shifts, including days, waking nights, and sleep‑ins
Requirements
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Willingness to work towards a management qualification
- Awareness of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Experience supporting or mentoring others in a team setting
- Passion for improving outcomes for young people
- Strong communication, empathy, and emotional awareness
- A calm, resilient approach in challenging situations
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
