  • Onsite: This role requires the student to work full time onsite throughout the duration of the intern term
  • Duration: 15 month placement, students must be available to start on July 1st 2026 and finish September 10th 2027

What you will be doing

We are looking for highly motivated interns with a passion for both hardware and software development, and a keen interest in how these domains interact. This role offers hands-on experience working across the hardware/software boundary, with opportunities to contribute to embedded design development, scripting, and system integration as well as opportunities to focus on ASIC & FPGA IP design/verification. In the role you will participate in one or more of (but not limited to) the below assignments:

  • Helping to develop full system solutions on our next generations of Adaptive SoCs/FPGAs.
  • Working on advanced designs for future FPGA and ASIC devices.

You will benefit from the professional guidance of an experienced engineering team that will enable enormous opportunities for learning and self-development. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that span a range of industries, including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial & Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This internship offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience with real-world applications while learning how AMD's embedded technologies are driving innovation across these different domains.

Who we are looking for

You are currently enrolled in a UK based University in a program majoring in Electrical/Electronic engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field. If you have experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply:

  • Digital circuit design and/or embedded firmware development
  • Testing using simulation tools
  • Scripting languages: Python, Tcl, and Unix shell
  • C/C++ programming skills and/or RTL development using Verilog or VHDL
  • AMD Adaptive SoC/FPGA toolchains (e.g., Vivado, Vitis, PetaLinux)
  • AMD FPGAs and system design tools
  • Development and debugging in Linux
