About the role
The role of the Extrusion Operator is to manufacture high quality blown extruded film to the required customer standards ensuring dedicated machines run with minimal scrap and downtime whilst maintaining a safe working environment. During the training period (normally 2-3 weeks) you will work Mon-Fri 9am-5pm before moving on to shift and reporting into the Production Manager. Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off, 2 days/2 nights.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working safe in accordance with site procedures and safe systems of work
- Reporting all hazards and acting on them accordingly
- Housekeeping on all extrusion lines
- Monitoring product quality and ensuring all quality checks and testing are carried out in line with specifications
- Monitoring and managing line output rates, utilisation, scrap levels against plan/targets on each line
- Operating extrusion machinery and monitoring and managing recycling equipment on each unit
- Ensuring accurate data is recorded and inputted correctly
- Ensuring a good handover of information to the incoming operator
Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
- Good team working and communication
- Positive and pro-active attitude
- Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
