The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, data management, and analysis to drive continuous improvement activities within the value streams. The role ensures that data from various quality and operational systems is effectively analysed to reduce defects, enhance operational efficiency, support the optimisation and maintenance of inspection systems, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet quality and operational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection System Optimisation
    • Manage and maintain inspection systems, ensuring they are calibrated, validated, and optimised for accuracy and reliability.
    • Work with quality and production teams to integrate inspection systems into the production processes, aligning with quality standards and operational needs.
    • Analyse inspection system data to detect quality trends, working with teams to address recurring issues and prevent defects.
  • Data Management and Analysis
    • Collect, manage, and analyse data from quality, inspection, and production systems to identify trends and support decision‑making for continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with value stream teams to analyse key metrics such as defect rates, cycle times, and process efficiency, providing insights to drive improvements.
    • Use data‑driven approaches to support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process and product quality issues.
  • Technical Support for Value Stream Improvements
    • Provide technical expertise in process optimisation, data analysis, and equipment performance to the value streams.
    • Collaborate with CI Engineers, Quality Engineers, and production teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and reduce defects.
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects, such as Lean Six Sigma initiatives, contributing technical insights and data analysis.
  • Continuous Improvement and Process Optimisation
    • Assist in identifying inefficiencies and areas for process improvement within production and quality systems.
    • Support CI and Process Engineers in implementing process improvements by providing data, technical expertise, and analysis to ensure solutions are data‑driven and sustainable.
    • Lead or contribute to Kaizen events, process mapping exercises, and other initiatives that drive continuous improvement across the value streams.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing
    • Provide training and support to value stream teams, operators, and quality personnel on the use of data systems, inspection systems, and process improvement techniques.
    • Ensure technical knowledge related to inspection systems, data analysis, and quality improvement is shared across teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Maintain accurate documentation of inspection system performance, data analysis outcomes, and improvement projects.
    • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards by maintaining calibration and validation records for equipment and systems used in quality control.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Quality, Science, or equivalent technical field.
  • Experience in a quality‑related role within manufacturing, ideally in a regulated or ISO‑certified environment.
  • Solid knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (5‑Whys, Fishbone, 8D, Pareto).
  • Strong communication, influencing, and coaching skills across all operational levels.
  • Confidence working with SAP or similar ERP/QMS systems for material and complaint management.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, proactive problem‑solving, and customer satisfaction.
