An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shift FLT Driver at Amcor Flexibles Extrusion Ilkeston, working on a 12 hour 4-shift pattern in a continuous 24/7 manufacturing environment. The role will operate in a high-speed, high-volume production environment to manufacture various blown films to tight customer specifications. Attention to detail and a drive for right first-time production quality is essential. Being a good team player and having a willingness to work in a flexible manner to suit changing business demands are also key attributes to being successful in the role.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Adherence to H&S rules and requirements at all times
  • Safe use of both counterbalance and reach forklift trucks (FLTs)
  • Safe use of pedestrian operated lifting equipment (Ped-Ops)
  • Completion of daily pre-use checks for the FLTs and Ped-Ops
  • Wrapping, packing and labelling of pallets of finished goods in the production areas
  • Transportation of the finished goods from the production areas to the warehouse racking
  • Use of hand-held scanning equipment to ensure finished goods are located correctly
  • Transportation of raw materials and packaging materials into the production areas
  • Safe handling of finished reels and packing them to correct customer specifications
  • Ensure no damage to finished goods or raw materials during the packing and transportation processes
  • Closely working and communicating with other members of the shift team to successfully hit shift targets
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping (6S) and hygiene at all times
  • Promptly identifying and solving any operational problems when they arise
  • Working as part of project teams when required to improve processes and working procedures

Quality: ensure all production output meets the required quality and customer specifications including the packaging requirements to ensure all finished reels are packed correctly and made ready for dispatch.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience of operating both counterbalance and reach FLTs, and Ped-Ops
  • Full and up-to-date forklift licences for both counterbalance and reach trucks
  • Experience of operating in a 12-hour shift role in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Formal qualifications in both English and Maths
