About The Role

Within AFEMEA, the Category Buyer will lead the strategic sourcing activities for key categories and projects, as assigned. Key categories include: Purchased Films including BOPET, BOPP and BOPA. This role will be essential for driving procurement excellence across the assigned categories. This role is responsible for the development of category sourcing strategies across the region, as well as being directly responsible for the execution of key procurement projects, including day-to-day interaction with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality goods and services at optimum cost.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Lead and support Category Managers in strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories, executing procurement initiatives aligned to regional and global strategies.
  • Manage procurement projects from initiation through execution, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and value targets are met.
  • Drive savings through effective sourcing, leveraging purchasing volume and negotiating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) contracts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement TCO improvement opportunities within the category.
  • Support the procurement function through reporting of key metrics, project tracking, and performance monitoring.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to position Amcor as a preferred customer.
  • Ensure continuity of supply by working closely with site teams and suppliers.
  • Deliver sustainable business value including cost, quality, service, supply assurance, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with peers across Amcor to leverage global scale and best practices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Relevant educational background in economy, Bachelor's level degree preferred.
  • Around 2 years of relevant work experience in procurement / strategic sourcing of similar categories.
  • Experience in market and benchmark analysis at a broad level.
  • Innovation process experience considered advantageous.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, problem solving ability and strategic thinking ability.
  • Demonstrated category expertise and sourcing/procurement experience.
  • Appropriate application of market analysis tools - industry analysis (Porter model) and supplier analysis - and a demonstrated understanding of the cost drivers in their markets.
  • Experience in the selection, preparation and execution of commercial agreements.
  • Effective leadership / participation in multi-functional projects and teams in an international environment.
  • Working knowledge of information and data systems used by Procurement.
  • Create and drive a commodity specific strategy.
  • Develop strong relationships with preferred suppliers.
