About The Role
You’ll be supporting the Technician Team to ensure that high‑quality items are produced in line with company standards, on time and in full.
You will report to the Production Manager, and your working hours will vary by department. Shifts run on a 3‑week rotation (6 am‑2 pm, 2 pm‑10 pm, 10 pm‑6 am).
Key Job Accountabilities
- Carrying out tool changes and setting for plastics moulding machinery
- Fault finding on machinery, identifying mechanical faults, set‑up issues, ancillary equipment settings and production quality issues
- Reporting to the Supervisor when any machine is stopped for any reason other than tool changes, and notifying maintenance for unresolved faults
- Raising maintenance work orders detailing machine faults
- Conducting regular safety checks on all machines and equipment, and taking action for non‑compliance
- Ensuring a QC check is completed on machines or at the supervisor’s request every two hours
- Performing all visual and functional QC checks in accordance with procedures
- Informing the supervisor immediately if a bottle is not to specification and coordinating corrective or remedial action
- Carrying out tool changes, colour changes, and other adjustments following the training procedure or relevant work instructions
- Maintaining machine operation and safety in line with the injection programme
The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those listed. Responsibilities may vary occasionally but will not alter the general nature or level of responsibility.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Technical qualification: Minimum Level 2 in Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
- Demonstrated competence in a recent technical role within an engineering environment (e.g., Motor Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Machinist, Service Engineer)
- Logical and methodical problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
- Ability to work independently and achieve objectives, taking responsibility for actions undertaken
- Confidence in challenging existing practices positively and pursuing continuous improvement
- Willingness to undertake duties as outlined, including further training if required
- Conscientious, thorough, and professional approach to all aspects of work responsibilities
