This position is responsible for leading a global industrial design team focused on differentiated packaging design and driving related innovation initiatives and activities. The role is part of the Global Core Innovation team and serves as a central resource for coordinating design innovation and related services. You will closely partner with internal stakeholders to support design innovation with customers and drive internal innovation initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads global industrial design team with members serving Europe, North America & Latin America.
  • Works cross-functionally with PLM & Market/Consumer research to identify future needs & opportunities.
  • Ensures visibility of industrial design team schedule & priorities to internal stakeholders and leadership team.
  • Defines ID roadmap, team/individual goals, & related performance management.
  • Ensures team expectations are met through a customer focused approach.
  • Resolves conflicts in priorities, resourcing, or work schedule through alignment with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Supports internal innovation initiatives in addition to customer demands.
  • Is adept at customer facing communication & related team development.
  • Drives collaboration across functions, ID teams, & BU’s.
  • Defines & aligns global ID software needs & related licensing.
  • Improves engagement & collaboration within Core ID team.
  • Facilitates research & decision making relative to design innovation initiatives.
  • Is responsible for individual performance management for assigned team members.
  • Ensures team members maintain timelines as relates to design projects & initiatives aligned with overall business requirements.
  • Establishes relationships with customers and serves as design/technical expert to customers & internal stakeholders.
  • Establishes internal design and work standards in coordination with design innovation team.
  • Researches and identifies new design tools and techniques for continued advancement of design team capabilities.

  • Expert in multiple categories of products and technologies, serving as thought leader for product design.
  • Drives design strategy and stimulates creation of new technologies.
  • Ensures team applies professional and engineering/design principles to develop an understanding of differing and variable situations to guide thinking about ways to address those situations.
  • Requires tact and effectiveness in dealing with others in everyday working relationships, including contacts to request or provide information.
  • Receives limited general direction, work in progress is reviewed routinely.
  • Selects appropriate work procedures or approaches to address assigned projects.
  • Makes own decisions regarding how to approach group leadership and related work assignments.
  • Is responsible for ensuring team completes assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Holds to appropriate policies and rules.

Education and Experience

Requires 8+ years of relevant experience plus a relevant degree or equivalent.
