Location: Pontyclun, South Wales. Regional responsibility for South region business units including Wales & Western, Southern and Rail Systems. A fantastic opportunity to join an established, national engineering contractor as a Rail Safety Systems Manager in a busy and fast paced Health & Safety team. This role involves working with regional operational project delivery and planning teams to provide the necessary support and training required to excel in the management and compliance of rail safety systems and offers longevity through secured contracts and projects.

The Role

We require an enthusiastic Rail Safety Systems Manager to ensure suitable, sufficient and robust processes and controls are in place to plan and manage safe access onto Network Rail infrastructure, ensuring compliance with all the associated standards relating to and resulting from works on or about the railway infrastructure. The Rail Safety Systems Manager is tasked with supporting projects to ensure Supply Chain Partners delivering work on or about the railway infrastructure on behalf of AmcoGiffen have appropriate arrangements and competent people in place to deliver their works. The role is required to assist in developing and leading the ongoing management of delivery teams focusing on work on or about the railway infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all safety standards, including rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop and lead the ongoing management of delivery teams.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, including the COSS Academy.
  • Develop and promote the culture of safety within the company, including the Railhub 4 project.
  • Conduct internal audits and assessments of the teams' 019 and ALO compliance.
  • Develop training workshops for topics such as Communication, Line Blockages, Planning, etc.
  • Provide technical support to the project leads and the training department.
  • Help project teams to ensure supply chain partners are adhering to safety standards.
  • Collect and analyse data to populate KPIs.
  • Foster relationships with all stakeholders involved in specific projects.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practice within the organisation.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate departments to ensure resolution.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an equivalent Rail Safety Systems Management role.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering training and awareness associated with rail safety systems and compliance with 019.
  • Demonstrable experience with 019 and ALO compliance.
  • Able to organise and prioritise own workload and work autonomously.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training workshops to improve standards and compliance with industry standards.
  • PTS & COSS competence.
  • Experience of gathering data and analysing trends to implement continuous improvements.
  • Full UK Driving licence and willingness to travel.
