Location: Castle Donnington, Midlands (some travel further afield where necessary)
Role: The position is part of a two‑person regional mechanical & electrical framework team supporting maintenance projects across the UK’s Canals and Rivers.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervision and execution of small maintenance projects across the Canal & River Trust network, including working away from base as required.
- Production of method statements.
- Ordering and hiring of materials and plant.
- Hands‑on mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance of assets such as hydraulics, moving structures, bridges, penstocks, water control, switchgear, control panels, PLCs, SCADA, HMI, RCD, earth loop impedance, quartz series PLCs, solar panels, charging stations, ultrasonic encoders, MMI’s, level instrumentation, and various electrical loops.
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience with hydrodynamics, moving structures, bridges, penstocks, and water control.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and basic electrical appreciation.
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical (or equivalent).
- SSSTS/SMSTS.
- Medium risk confined space training.
- Slinger certification.
- PASMA.
- MEWP.
- Previous experience in multidisciplinary electrical and mechanical projects is advantageous.
