Business Unit:
You will be based within a busy and fast‑paced project environment, working across our Scotland region within both rail and non‑rail civil engineering infrastructure. Projects typically include roads, bridges, footbridges, rail structures, platforms, station assets, tunnels, underbridges, retaining walls, flood alleviation, coastal and environmental works, embankments, geotechnical and structure repairs.
The Role:
As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will form an integral part of our expert commercial team within the Scotland Region. You will work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors and the wider Commercial Management team, receiving day‑to‑day guidance, mentoring and structured training.
Day‑to‑day activities:
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement, payments and liabilities
- Supporting cost value reconciliation (CVR) processes
- Producing and maintaining weekly commercial reports
- Creating and processing order requests
- Assisting with the preparation of final account packs, including for Network Rail
- Gathering, organising and issuing completion and commercial documentation
- Supporting the submission of estimates for client approval
- Assisting with data analysis, commercial reporting and record keeping
- Ensuring all commercial documentation is accurately filed and maintained
Requirements:
- Be passionate about building a career in Quantity Surveying or commercial management
- Have strong communication, organisational and IT skills
- Be motivated, proactive and keen to learn
- Be willing to study part‑time towards a Degree Level Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying
