We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Planner (P6) to join our established and growing business, supporting the successful delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the North West.

Working across a diverse and active portfolio including rail and non-rail frameworks this role offers the opportunity to influence project success at both strategic and delivery levels, working closely with operational teams and key stakeholders across the region.

About the Opportunity

Based from Warrington, you will play a key role in developing, managing, and maintaining integrated project programmes that support effective planning, control, and delivery across multiple projects.

You will be part of a collaborative and well-established planning function, working alongside project teams, commercial leads, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and performance expectations.

As the business continues to grow across the North West, this is a critical role in strengthening planning capability, driving best practice, and enhancing project controls across a varied and challenging project environment.

The Role

As Senior Planner, you will provide robust planning and project controls support throughout the full project lifecycle—from tender stage through to delivery and completion.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and managing detailed integrated project programmes using Primavera P6
  • Monitoring progress, analysing performance, and identifying trends and risks to delivery
  • Applying proactive mitigation strategies to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Providing project controls support including:
    • Earned Value Analysis (EVA)
    • Risk and opportunity management
    • Procurement and resource planning
    • Change management and programme impact assessment
  • Producing regular progress reports and programme updates for internal teams and clients
  • Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, and clients
  • Supporting tender planning and programme development where required
  • Ensuring compliance with planning standards, client requirements, and business systems
  • Mentoring and supporting junior planners, promoting best practice across teams

About You

You will be an experienced and proactive planning professional with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects, ideally within rail or similar complex environments.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Senior Planner role within civil engineering / infrastructure
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
  • Strong understanding of project controls, planning methodologies, and reporting
  • Experience developing and managing complex, multi-disciplinary project programmes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to analyse data and provide clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and support project teams

Desirable:

  • Experience working within rail infrastructure or regulated environments
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Previous site-based experience or strong understanding of construction delivery
