We are looking for a talented and commercially astute Estimator to join our growing West Region team, based in Warrington. The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, development, and delivery of competitive and commercially sound tenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission
  • Develop robust, competitive and cost-effective pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define bid-winning approaches and methodologies
  • Prepare detailed estimates using first principles
  • Carry out take-offs from drawings and technical documentation
  • Assess and manage risk and opportunity pricing within tenders
  • Engage with the supply chain to obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Work closely with Planners and delivery teams to ensure realistic resourcing and programme alignment
  • Present tender proposals to senior management for review and approval
  • Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the estimating function
  • Mentor and support junior team members where appropriate

About You

You are a driven and detail-oriented estimator with a strong background in civil engineering and a passion for delivering high-quality work.

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering / infrastructure
  • Strong experience in multi-disciplinary projects and/or frameworks
  • Solid understanding of first principles estimating
  • Ability to analyse technical information and translate it into accurate cost plans
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Desirable:

  • Experience across sectors such as rail, highways, environment, or utilities
  • Previous site or operational experience
  • Familiarity with estimating software (e.g. Causeway)
