We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to support the continued growth of our Power & Energy portfolio, specifically within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector across the UK. This is a key operational leadership role focused on delivering civil and building projects associated with substation infrastructure (both Distribution and Transmission), alongside supporting ongoing network expansion programmes.
You will play a critical role in developing and strengthening relationships with key clients including SSE, SPEN, NGET, NGED, and other UK distribution network operators, while helping drive our strategic growth across a national portfolio.
As Contracts Manager, you will act as the operational lead for Power T&D projects, taking responsibility for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of multiple contracts. Working closely with an experienced civil estimator and wider pre-construction team, you will contribute to pre-contract activities, including PQQs and tender enquiries, while shaping a scalable operational delivery model across the business.
You will ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the operational delivery of multiple Power T&D contracts across a national portfolio
- Manage projects from pre-construction through to completion and close-out
- Support pre-qualification submissions (PQQs) and tender processes
- Work collaboratively with estimating teams to plan and price upcoming works
- Develop and implement an effective operational delivery strategy for this sector
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
- Ensure full compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards
- Drive programme performance, cost control and commercial awareness across projects
- Lead, mentor and manage project teams to ensure successful delivery outcomes
- Identify opportunities for business development and repeat work
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager / Project Manager within Power T&D or utilities infrastructure
- Strong background in civils and building works, particularly within substation environments
- Experience delivering both distribution and transmission projects
- Demonstrable experience in management, planning and operational delivery
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

- Working with DNOs / National Grid clients (SSE, SPEN, NGET, NGED etc.)

- Relevant Management / Project Management qualification
- Civil Engineering background (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience)
- National Grid (NG) Access qualifications (or ability to obtain)
This role can be based from any of our regional offices, including: Warrington, Barnsley, Swanley.
