We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing South Region Pre‑Contract Team, supporting a diverse portfolio of multi‑disciplinary rail and civil engineering projects. This role is central to our work-winning success across CP7 frameworks, rail infrastructure, and complex civil engineering schemes for key clients including Transport for Wales, Network Rail and the Environment Agency.

You’ll be joining a highly engaged work‑winning team at an exciting time of growth, contributing to strategic tender activity and supporting major framework commitments.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of tender opportunities across the South region, ensuring robust, accurate and commercially sound estimates are produced for a variety of civil engineering and rail schemes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation
  • Managing the full tender process from initial receipt through to final submission
  • Preparing and presenting tender submissions at senior review meetings
  • Liaising closely with the Supply Chain team to issue enquiries and assess subcontractor quotes
  • Undertaking technical and commercial appraisals of labour, plant, materials and temporary works
  • Completing take-offs and producing first‑principles cost build-ups
  • Identifying, analysing and pricing project risks
  • Producing high‑quality estimating reports and supporting documents
  • Collaborating with internal proposals and contract management teams
  • Supporting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the work‑winning function

About You

You will be an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator with a strong background in rail and/or civil engineering, ideally gained within a contracting organisation.

Essential:

  • First Principles Estimating experience
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary rail or civil engineering projects
  • Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies
  • Proficient with Excel and modern estimating software
  • Able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Previous site or operational experience before moving into Estimating
  • Experience working within Network Rail frameworks (CP6 / CP7)
