We currently have multiple permanent, weekly‑paid opportunities for Multi‑Skilled Labourers / General Operatives to join our Scotland Business Unit, based from our Inverness depot. You will support the delivery of rail asset management and civil engineering projects across Inverness and the surrounding region, working within a busy and safety‑critical rail environment.
Business Unit
Our Scotland Business Unit operates within a fast‑paced project and maintenance environment, delivering a wide range of multi‑disciplinary civil engineering works for clients including Network Rail, Local Authorities and Environmental bodies.
Projects typically include:
- Highways and roads
- Underbridges, overbridges and footbridges
- Tunnels
- Flood alleviation and repair works
- Earthworks and embankments
- Rail platforms and station infrastructure
We are currently delivering several live infrastructure projects alongside long‑term frameworks, including:
- Civils Asset Management (CAM)
- Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF)
- Slabtrack Framework
The Role
Based from our Inverness depot, you will support rail and civil engineering works across the local and regional network. Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out assigned duties safely and efficiently
- Working in accordance with approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Using safe systems of work and industry best practice at all times
- Carrying out checks on tools and equipment prior to use
- Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy working environment
- Ensuring works are delivered to programme
- Signing onto permits, task briefings and site documentation before commencing work
- Communicating effectively with Site Supervisors and Management
- Reporting hazards, near misses and safety concerns
- Attending all site briefings and workforce forums
- Undertaking additional tasks as reasonably instructed by line management
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience as a General Operative or Multi‑Skilled Labourer within the rail industry.
