We are looking for an experienced and highly accurate Structural Steelwork Detailer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for producing precise fabrication and erection drawings, 3D models, and material schedules for a wide range of structural steel projects. Working closely with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and site teams, you will ensure all detailing meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed structural steel fabrication and erection drawings using industry-standard software such as Tekla Structures or Advance Steel.
- Create and maintain accurate 3D steel models throughout the project lifecycle.
- Generate GA drawings, assembly drawings, single-part drawings, bolt lists, and associated documentation.
- Prepare BOMs, cutting lists, and material schedules with full accuracy.
- Review engineering and architectural drawings to identify discrepancies or missing information.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, clients, and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.
- Ensure all detailing complies with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and project specifications.
- Update drawings to reflect design changes, client feedback, and site requirements.
- Support fabrication and site erection teams by providing timely technical clarification and drawing revisions.
- Maintain document control and issue drawings in line with company procedures.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in detailing standards, workflows, and best practices.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Structural Steelwork Detailer.
- Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures or equivalent detailing software.
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings with confidence.
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Knowledge of BIM workflows.
- Experience generating CNC data (DSTV, NC files).
- Familiarity with CE/UKCA marking requirements.
- Understanding of welding symbols and fabrication standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Relevant industry experience may be accepted in place of formal qualifications.
