An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team at AmcoGiffen, supporting the East and West regions and providing strong commercial and financial assurance across live contracts. This role is well suited to a post qualified accountant, including candidates making their first move out of audit, who are looking to build a career in finance business partnering within a project based construction environment.

About the Business

AmcoGiffen delivers maintenance frameworks, capital delivery and complex civil engineering across the UK, including bridge reconstruction, environmental infrastructure, highways, tunnels, station works, lineside civils and utility installations. Our clients include Local Authorities, Network Rail, energy companies and environmental organisations. The Role

As Finance Business Partner, you will provide commercial insight, challenge and assurance across a portfolio of contracts, with a particular focus on contract accounting and the financial integrity of CVRs/Cost Value Reconciliations. You will partner closely with non‑financial colleagues, supporting contract performance, identifying trends and risks, and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business partnering with project, commercial and operational teams across the East and West regions
  • Providing financial assurance and challenge to Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Applying contract accounting principles, including revenue recognition standards
  • Reviewing and interpreting contract performance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Producing insightful financial analysis, forecasts and management information
  • Supporting working capital management, including WIP, debtors and contract cashflows
  • Advising stakeholders on commercial risk and financial implications of project decisions
  • Supporting tendering activity and contract set‑up from a finance perspective
  • Working to tight commercial and financial deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in financial controls, reporting and processes

About You

We are looking for a confident, commercially aware finance professional who is comfortable working in a business‑facing role.

Essential:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified, with some post‑qualification experience
  • Experience in contract accounting (construction/contracting sector advantageous)
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition standards
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to evaluate trends in contract performance
  • Confidence partnering non‑financial stakeholders at all levels, from Project Manager/Quantity Surveyor through to Operations Director and Regional Managing Director/Regional Commercial Director.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and persuade
  • Ability to manage risk and maintain control while working to tight deadlines
