Today, AMC is in search of a new Director of Content Sales, EMEA, reporting into the VP of content sales EMEA to aid strategic content licensing of AMC television in the territory. The successful candidate will be a creative, results-driven individual, and team player, who can aggressively seek new international sales opportunities and markets, while balancing sales opportunities and windows against internal programming priorities.
This role is based in the UK and working from our offices in Goodge Street (2 days per week) and remotely from home for 3 days. We offer a supportive work environment, private medical & dental insurance, 25 days holiday and a generous pension scheme.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage AMC’s global content licensing efforts for France, Italy, Iberia and CIS.
- Oversee and maintain existing relationships for TV in these markets.
- Research, identify, analyze, and pursue new international sales opportunities and partnerships.
- Develop and own sales strategy and title specific sales plans in relevant territories.
- Passionately represent AMC content to potential buyers at international markets, sales events, etc.
- Contribute to internal greenlight process by providing reasoned sales estimates for future productions and acquisitions.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with key clients, maintain a thorough understanding of key partner programming needs, finding the best, highest-value home for each title in each territory.
- Thoroughly understand trends and embrace new technologies to generate more creative sale strategies and optimize sales.
- Work closely and collaboratively with AMC departments to document and manage rights availability and evaluate sales opportunities against key internal programming priorities and revenue goals.
- Work closely with media operations to oversee an effective and efficient localization and delivery process for outgoing content.
- Work as a key part of the sales team to ensure a dynamic, creative and goals orientated sales organization.
- Able to comfortably handle sales pitches for AMC content, all with the goal of closing the sale at the right valuation for AMC.
- Has the ability to develop a strong respected network of buyers in North America and Latin America, or to open new client relationships, to find the right home for AMC titles.
- Has the ability to understand the details of current and future licensing deals, commitments, restrictions, etc.
Key Competencies required:
- 5+ years of experience in a sales role, ideally within EMEA, with a strong preference for the media and entertainment industry. A passion for television and film.
- Proven sales track record with existing relationships in the industry.
- A deep knowledge of entertainment industry rights, and both existing and emerging business models (broadcast TV, SVOD, AVOD, FAST, etc.)
- Drive and tenacity to open doors and build lasting sales relationships.
- Understanding and appreciation for the technical aspects needed to do holistic deals; proven ability to delve into new subject matters and quickly assimilate new levels of understanding.
- Exceptional work ethic – ability to work long and flexible hours when required.
- Reputation for conducting business with the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
- Ability to travel when required, particularly for sales meetings, content markets, industry trade shows/events and, if applicable, AMC networks office locations.
- Possesses a positive outlook, charismatic, with high-energy and contagious enthusiasm. Keeps strong focus on companywide goals and tactics, remembering that content licensing is only part of AMC’s broader, corporate strategy.
- Languages would be preferred (French, Spanish, and/or Italian) but not a requirement.
